MocaMoca user base exceeds 20 million amid persistent credit access barriers

MocaMoca has recorded more than 20 million active users in the Philippines as Filipino consumers continue to seek simpler and more accessible ways to obtain credit from regulated financial providers.

The digital lending platform, operated by SEC-registered Copperstone Lending Inc., has served Filipino borrowers for more than five years through secure and transparent digital lending solutions.

Its latest milestone comes as many consumers remain interested in credit but struggle to complete the application process. TransUnion’s Q2 2026 Consumer Pulse Study found that nearly half of Filipinos intend to apply for credit. However, 60% ultimately abandon their applications because of cost, eligibility requirements or other barriers.

Broader financial inclusion data also indicates that a substantial portion of the population remains outside the formal financial system. The World Bank’s 2025 Global Findex Report found that only about half of Filipino adults have a formal financial account, placing the Philippines below the East Asia and Pacific regional average.

Nevertheless, the use of regulated credit providers is gradually increasing. The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas’ 2025 Consumer Finance and Inclusion Survey reported that 16% of adult borrowers now choose formal financial institutions rather than relying solely on informal credit sources.

“Many Filipinos still face barriers when accessing formal credit. Our goal is to remove those barriers through a lending experience that is simple, transparent, and built around the needs of borrowers, while maintaining the highest standards of responsibility and consumer protection,” said David Balamon, Chief Executive Officer of Copperstone Lending Inc.

MocaMoca enables qualified users to apply for collateral-free loans of up to ₱50,000 through a digital process requiring only one valid government ID.

Applications are supported by 24/7 automated approvals, with secure fund disbursement available in as fast as five minutes. The platform is directly integrated with GCash, Maya, Coins.ph and GrabPay, allowing borrowers nationwide to receive their funds and make repayments through widely used digital wallets.

Beyond immediate access to credit, MocaMoca uses a structured credit growth path intended to help borrowers build sustainable financial habits. The system provides scalable limits, transparent loan terms and repayment cycles aligned with payday schedules.

Women make up more than 60% of the platform’s borrower base. Many of these users oversee household finances or operate micro-enterprises and have traditionally faced limited access to formal lending services.

The platform’s growing reach is also reflected in its position among the 10 most-downloaded digital lending applications on Google Play in the Philippines.

“As digital finance continues to evolve, our focus remains on helping more Filipinos access formal credit responsibly. We’ll continue investing in responsible innovation that makes borrowing more accessible, transparent, and secure, while supporting the country’s broader financial inclusion goals,” Balamon added.
